Gilroy Garlic Festival

Ah, the yearly Gilroy Garlic Festival… the festival of festivals in Northern California. The nationally acclaimed festival that recieves eager visitors from as far as South Carolina, and mentioned by famous comedians such as D.L. Hughely. Yup, that’s right. The greatest festival of Nothern California is held each year in the quaint town of Gilroy; nope, not San Francisco, not Sacramento, not Cupertino…. Gilroy. And the theme? Garlic

Anyway, I woke up today morning and walked into the dining room expecting to head out to eat some breakfast, such as rice porridge, with my dad. Instead I was greeted by a eager looking pops that immediately blurted out the question “want to go to the Gilroy Garlic Festival??” Even though I knew that meant waiting over an hour in traffic on the 101, I couldn’t turn down the chance at eating some local garlic delicacies (FDC for life right?) Plus it’d be the first time we’ve ever gone.

Once we arrived, it only took us all of 15 seconds to realize that the Garlic Festival was not the garlic fantasy we imagined it to be. In reality, it was basically just one big party. On the Menu of “delicacies” we ate today: Garlic Sausage Sandwich, Calamari, Stuffed Mushrooms, Beer, and Rattlesnake (chicken, I bet $100 that it was chicken). Anyway, it was a good time anyway, but wish we could have had some more unique foods… and perhaps garlic related, as the festivals name would have suggested.

Some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Birthday Weekend

Happy birthday to both Gordon and Diana, hope the age of 24 will treat you two well. It won’t be long till I too turn the ripe old age of 24, but not for another month. I hope to god that I won’t have to endure the alcohol trials that Gordon and Diana experienced in the past few days when the time comes for me, I don’t think my body can take that kind of beating.

Friday started for me at Les Miserables with Karen Chen at the Curran Theater in SF. Being only the second play/musical I have seen, I am far from being an expert of these sort of things, however I can still say with confidence that it was damn good musical. After that, Karen and I met up with the gang at Luna Lounge. At the end of the night, it was difficult to tell whether Gordon or James was more drunk, but here is a picture anyway.

Saturday was the BBQ at my place, which turned out great but just like last year, no one went into the pool even though it was easily 90 F outside. Thanks for everyone who dropped by. Great burgers, dogs, and chicken. Night time was great as well, went to Sake Lab and got just about everyone to show up. Everyone got a bunch to drink and then took up 3 tables at a local chinese restaurant. It was great partying with everyone again.
